The Moody Blues' frontman Justin Hayward, who wrote Nights in White Satin, remembers his Swindon roots in an interview by Geoff Ford.

I was born in Dean Street, in Swindon, not in my grandfather's house, but next door to where my grandparents lived. My parents were living with my father's parents, but there wasn't room for me to be born there, so I was born in Mr and Mrs Jones' house next door.

There was a piano in my grandfather's house that my mum played. I remember banging on that piano and my grandfather would say, 'Just get on with it,' and close the door.
