Salisbury based Armishaws Removals have officially pledged their support to the Armed Forces Covenant. The signing took place in the presence of covenant Lt Col Alice Archer, Commanding Officer 6 Regiment Army Air Corps.
With Wiltshire being a home to so many service personnel, it’s a major boon to see more local companies and groups signing the pledge.
The Covenant (also known as the AFC) is a promise by the nation to ensure those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. This includes offering discounts to veterans and providing employment opportunities for those leaving military service, as well as actively seeking to employ partners, spouses and family members of serving Armed Forces personnel. The pledge also extends to military reservists across the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
The event was hosted at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, one of several locations in the region used by 6 Regiment Army Air Corps.
Armishaws Removals General manager Pat Carter said: "We’re really proud to be supporting the covenant. So many of our customers are retired service men and women of all ranks, it was a natural step for us to take.
"We’d heartily encourage other companies and employers in Wiltshire to make the pledge. It’s really easy to do, connects you to a vast network of similarly minded companies, especially in this part of the world where so many military personnel are stationed."
Other supporters of the scheme include the Bank of England, the Football Association, Wiltshire Council, McDonalds, Coca-Cola and more.
Along with the official signing, Armishaws also received their Bronze Award from Jon Read, Regional Employment Director with RFCA, for Armishaws’ commitment to the Employer Recognition Scheme.
The award came as the removals company, which operates across the South West, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023.
Their vehicles are a common site across Salisbury and Wiltshire.
