Editorial Team

Claire Waring - Managing Editor

Claire WaringManaging editor Claire Waring has been based in Wiltshire for 23 years and lives in Hilperton on the outskirts of Trowbridge. She began her editorial career working on the University of Bristol's in-house newspaper and glossy graduate magazine, Nonesuch. She worked for Newsquest's city newspapers in Oxford and its regional titles in the area before focusing on TV writing for a features agency in Bristol. She has worked on a number of regional newspaper titles, including the Gazette and Herald, based in Devizes, and was a feature writer in Devon before returning to her beloved Wiltshire to work on the Wiltshire Times, based in Trowbridge, editing a number of its magazines and supplements. These included The Bathonian, a lifestyle magazine for the people of Bath, tourist guides for Bath and Wiltshire and The Country Times. Claire has been managing editor of Wiltshire Life for two and a half years and relishes the challenges that the job provides. She says she enjoys the job because she gets to meet so many interesting people and because the magazine, with its long history, has such strong support within the county.

Claire White - Production Editor

Claire WhiteAfter graduating from university Claire White joined A&D Media as company receptionist and subscriptions assistant. With an ambition to write, she soon started providing features for Wiltshire Life and within six months Claire was a permanent member of the editorial team as editorial assistant for both Wiltshire Life and Country magazine.

During her time with the company Claire has worked across many of the group's publications and is currently editor of Facilities-UK and Hospital Direct as well as providing editorial support on Wiltshire Life as production editor.

 

Mark Allen - Editor/Publisher

Mark AllenThe publisher and editor of Wiltshire Life is Mark Allen, an experienced journalist, editor and publisher. As a Wiltshire resident, he has a special interest in the county and established a second office for his group of companies in Dinton, near Salisbury in 1994 creating employment for up to fifty local staff.

Mr Allen is the previous winner of the Periodical Publishers Association Editor of the Year accolade when the journal he then edited won, in the same year, the Magazine of the Year and the Campaign of the Year. His company publishes a range of business, medical and educational journals.

 
 

Fiona Richards - Publishing Director

Fiona RichardsFiona completed her BA (Hons) in Archaeology/Law at the University of Sydney and her PhD at Edinburgh. She has published two books on Egyptian scarab seals and has spent over 20 years digging and travelling in Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Libya and Iran. To pay for her trips overseas (archaeologists don’t earn much money) she worked at the Opera House in Sydney for seven years. Here she did a number of jobs from front of house (getting to see the shows for free), tour guide, marketing assistant and finally Assistant Functions Manager where she organised weddings, conferences, parties and state dinners that were held at this amazing venue. The Opera House remains one of her favourite places in the world.

Before working for A&D Media, Fiona organised and escorted archaeological tours to both the Middle East and Europe for three years. She started at A&D Media as marketing manager on Wiltshire Life in February 2002 and has held her current position as publishing director since July 2002. Fiona also started A&D Conferences in 2003, which now include the annual international Energy from Waste conference and organises the awards for Wiltshire Life magazine. Her great loves are Labradors, opera and travelling.

Jane Kennedy – Sales Manager

Jane KennedySales manager Jane Kennedy has been with A&D media since 2005. She was keen on a change of direction in her career and after 18 years in both sales & marketing in the world of financial services she choose to move into the world of publishing. Jane has worked across a range of titles in the group, including Wiltshire Life, Carriage Driving and Recycling & Waste World.

In her spare time, Jane is very busy looking after her young son and supporting him in all his sporting endeavours, as well as being actively involved in village life and a member of the school PTA.

 
 
 

Lisa Saunders

Lisa SaundersLisa joined Wiltshire Life in June of this year. Based in Swindon, she covers the north of the county for the magazine. Lisa has spent most of her working career with DHL Express(Uk)Ltd. She initially worked in the Operations department managing all aspects of front line operation and customer support, and after 18 months made the transition from Operations into Sales where she remained for over 12 years, working mainly in the support and account management of Key and Global customers. This was followed by a short time working for a local independant Estate Agency as a Sales Negotiator, before joining A&D Media Ltd.

Carolyn Allen

Carolyn AllenCarolyn completed an HND in Graphic Design before joining A&D Media Ltd 5 years ago. During that time, Carolyn has worked across many of our publications, and is now responsible for the layout of Wiltshire Life, as well as Recycling and Waste World, a weekly magazine.

 
 
 
 
 

Emma Squire

Emma SquireEmma completed a BA(Hons) in Graphic Design before travelling for 6 months through Mexico, Fiji, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Emma joined the company 18 months ago, and is responsible for all the adverts in Wiltshire Life as well as the layout of another popular magazine, Carriage Driving. She is a Beaver Scout Leader and recently participated in the World Scout Jamboree in Essex.
